Built on Trust: How Region 6 Became a Preferred Partner for Compass Construction
The Verge Apartments, Auburn, Washington
The Vision: Building Communities That Last
Every Compass Construction project begins with a simple philosophy: quality comes first. From market-rate developments to affordable housing communities, the company has built its reputation by delivering thoughtfully constructed multifamily projects that stand the test of time.
Delivering that level of quality requires more than experienced project management. It depends on working with trade partners who communicate well, take ownership of their work, and consistently perform at a high level.
That commitment has shaped the way Compass selects its subcontractors, making trust, reliability, and execution just as important as technical expertise.
The Challenge: Finding Trade Partners You Can Trust
Compass Construction has built a reputation throughout the Pacific Northwest for delivering high-quality multifamily communities through strong relationships and dependable execution. For Project Director Nick Cunningham, that means working with trade partners who communicate well, perform quality work, and help keep projects on schedule.
Finding those partners isn't always easy. In the low-voltage industry, delays, rework, communication breakdowns, and systems that don't perform as expected can quickly impact timelines, budgets, and the client experience.
That relationship with Region 6 Systems Integration began unexpectedly. While constructing The Verge Apartments in Auburn, Washington, ownership group Pillar Properties informed Compass that Region 6 would be handling the project's access control and security systems.
"It wasn't really a conversation," Cunningham recalls. "We were told Region 6 was doing the work."
Although the partnership wasn't one Compass initially selected, it didn't take long for Region 6 to earn the team's confidence. What started as a client decision quickly became one of Compass Construction's most trusted trade partnerships.

The Solution: Getting It Right the First Time
As Compass Construction and Region 6 continued working together, the results spoke for themselves.
"The systems they're responsible for function correctly as intended the first time," says Cunningham.
While that may sound like a basic expectation, Cunningham notes it is far from common within the low-voltage industry. Delays caused by troubleshooting, failed inspections, and repeated service visits can disrupt schedules and create unnecessary challenges for everyone involved. Completing the work correctly the first time has become one of the reasons Compass continues to seek Region 6 out for future projects.
Reliability extends beyond the installation itself. Responsiveness has been just as important throughout the partnership.
"A lot of people in that sector, you're lucky if you can get them to answer your call," Cunningham explains. "Region 6 picks up the phone. If we need them on-site, they're there. They really treat us like a client."
Across multiple multifamily projects, Region 6 has delivered access control, video intercom, and surveillance solutions while providing the communication, accountability, and reliability Compass values in its trade partners.
The Difference: More Than an Installation Partner
For Compass Construction, the value of Region 6 extends beyond the installation itself. As security technology continues to evolve, developers and ownership groups often have questions about access control, video intercoms, and other building technologies. Having a partner who can confidently answer those questions and provide practical recommendations has become an important part of the relationship.
"They present professionally, they listen, they're patient, and they're willing to answer questions," says Cunningham. "I'm totally comfortable putting them in a room with a client."
That confidence allows Compass to stay focused on managing the project, knowing their clients are receiving clear, professional guidance from a partner they trust to represent both companies well.

The Result: A Partnership Compass Actively Seeks Out
What began as a client-directed partnership has become one Compass Construction actively seeks out on future projects.
"We got to know Tyler, Joe, and the team, and they killed it," Cunningham says. "Ever since then, I've been fighting to get Region 6 on all my projects."
For Cunningham, technical expertise is only part of what makes a great trade partner. Reliability, integrity, and professionalism are equally important, and those qualities are what keep Compass coming back.
"We really value partnering with subcontractors who are ethical, fair, reliable, and experts in their scope," Cunningham says. "Region 6 checks all of those boxes."
